Wii Fit – Priced

Or rather, $70, according to US e-tailers

Wii Fit – Priced
Wii Fit was without a doubt one of the big announcements of E3 this year, which, depending on your point of view means either that innovation is alive and kicking (and the conference was a "coming out party" for the industry) or that E3 was about the death of gaming.

US e-tailers EBGames and Gamestop have now priced Wii Fit at $70 (£35) and whatever your take on it, you cannot argue with the fact that Nintendo continues to think differently and to surprise us with intriguing ideas for how to take gaming to the unwashed (casual, elderly and female) masses.

Hmmm, and while we ponder that image of an unwashed, casual elderly lady playing Wii Fit, we’ve put a call in to Nintendo’s UK office to confirm the price and release date for the UK and Europe.

£35 for the Wii Balance Board peripheral and Wii Fit software seems reasonable to us.

The real question is, (if released this side of 2008) will Wii Fit be this year’s must-have Xmas gift as Wii Sports was in 2006? Let us know your thoughts below.

£35.00 does seem very resonable i would reckon its £39.99 -£49.99 but we can live in hope, also spong maybe you could tell how sensitive this thing is, for instance could it be placed on a table and using a pair of drum sticks make it work like a drum kit, or like a turntable on a dj game, ie is it touch sensitive or is it all based on weight balance?

As far as I was able to see (from quite a distance at the back of the conference hall) last week it is all based on weight balance.

And while I cannot wait to try it out myself (because I'm overweight and need something!!) I'm not sure if I can see my (non-game-playing) wife and brother-in-law enjoying Wii Fit as much as we all enjoyed Wii Sports last Xmas to be honest...

You'd be surprised guys. Nintendo are obvoiusly gonna stick some games with Wii Fit to make the exercise fun, just like Wii Sports did. Wii Fit is just a clever extension of that.

£35-40 is a reasonable price, considering females spend shed loads more going to proper sweat holes, known as gyms. Get this and a Wii and you can exercise in front of your tv, and not feel bad about passively being in front of you tv any more.

I know I'll be buying one. What I'd like to see is the govermment helping this out, as they are always the first to say the general public is overweight. Better yet, get these in school too.

Thats a great idea lets get some lottery funding as well, get the government to give discounts on wii and balance boards seriously if the government did this could you imagine nintendos sales, 60 million wiis sold in UK alone! lol, also if everyone gets a free interenet channel download then the uk would meet its internet in every household target,
