Resident Evil 5 - Chris Redfield’s Back

Resi Evil 5 Producer Jun Takeuchi spills to Famitsu

The first glimpse of Resident Evil 5 trailer at last week’s Tuesday evening Microsoft conference was perhaps SPOnG’s first ‘hairs on the back of the neck’ moment from E3 2007, so its good to hear that the game’s producer Jun Takeuchi has spilled a few more details on the game to Famitsu this week.

Resident Evil 5's story takes place roughly 10 years after the Raccoon Incident in the first Resident Evil game and the main character (seen in the trailer) is confirmed to be former S.T.A.R.S. member Chris Redfield, who now works for an organization called BSAA and was sent to the location we saw in the trailer to investigate on a special case.

Takeuchi tells Famitus, "What has happened to Chris during these 10 years? By showing his past, we can begin to unravel things that were not resolved in Resident Evil 4. In fact, Resident Evil 5 will retain most of its gameplay style [from Resident Evil 4] with some new features which I cannot talk about yet at this point."

Resident Evil 5 will have more distinction between light and darkness so, "For example, as Chris enters a building, his eyes has to gradually adjust to the dark indoors. The same can be said with the opposite where stepping out from a dark place would cause glare to his eyes."

Takeuchi adds, "The enemies this time are not zombies nor are they Los Ganados either, but are quite smart, human-like creatures. One of the main theme in this game is that Chris is fighting for a cause that is not really clear. Is he fighting for good or evil?"

Watch out for the full HD Resident Evil 5 trailer on SPOnG next week and via Xbox Live on 27 July.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's actually been hired by Wesker, through a dummy organisation. Stranger stuff has happened.

anyone know why Wesker was in RE4? i saw him but didnt really get why he was there, is this one of the loose ends?, cant wait for RE5 each game is brilliant in the sense how all the stories merge somehow and the new style gameplay well we all know what we think about that.

Wesker was trying to revive Umbrella by having Ada steal the Las Plagas sample.

The enemies in RE5 will probably be an result of that, Las Plagas based but still different. Also it seems like it can be situated in East-Africa, a village being used as a test subject?

i thought the re5 trailer seemed to be saying 'look, a militant las plagas-infected group, throw in a t/g-virus infected zombie and the mutant freaks that shall be created will kick your arse harder than god'

so undead parasites will be the order of the day ill reckon

i remember reading that they said it would also affect you depndant on heat and shade, have they changed this do you think to light and dark? or are both in there, ie while its hot you cannot run for long without over heating and become over tired easily in shade though you can recover but running into the shade will effect your sight and alos exiting will so is worth risking health for sight?, perhaps this is how they are dealing with health this time round using shade and water bottles? as i cant see the umbrella herbs required growing in the desert?
