Sony and Midway have held hands and told the world something very important to them:
Unreal Tournament 3 is to be a 'timed' PS3 console exclusive in 2007.
The announcement pins the date down as November, and confirms that the title will also be available on the PC. SPOnG understands that the 360 version will be out in early 2008. It's tempting to pin the phrase “in 2007” to a November release and blurt out cynically, 'not much of an exclusive, is it?' Two months over Christmas, however, isn't a bad lead.
Mark Rein, vice president and co-founder of Epic Games, seems to think it's a good fit, anyway. “The game takes full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 3 system, and
Unreal Tournament 3 will for the first time allow users to create robust user created content, known as “mods”, on the PC version and play them on the PlayStation 3 system,” he said. “We’re extremely excited about this and we feel this will bring a level of creativity, innovation and replayability not previously seen on home consoles.”
Awesome! We're also excited!
To get the old juices flowing for a spot of
Unreal action, SPOnG's got a new trailer and screens for the game below. After you're done with that, head over to SPOnG's
