Sega's Gas Powered's Space Siege

When is a cyborg a human? Philosophical conundrums and more inside...

SEGA has sent word that it is to publish a new action-RPG from Gas Powered Games called Space Siege – a futuristic, cybernetic experience and ‘a spiritual successor’ to the Dungeon Siege series (pictured here).

Players will take on the role of cybernetics engineer Seth Walker in an action-RPG 'experience' on The Armstrong, “one of the last remaining colonization ships carrying the last bastions of human civilization after a devastating attack on Earth from an unknown alien race.”

As aliens invade, Walker must decide how to cybernetically augment his body, becoming increasingly less ‘human’. These choices determine the game direction and affect the ways in which non-player characters interact with Walker.

Space Siege will feature a separate co-op multiplayer mode enabling up to four players to create and experience a completely unique mission structure.

Space Siege is down for a first quarter release for North America and Europe in 2008. SPOnG should be getting a first look and some first bits of footage of the game in the coming week from the E3 Media & Business Summit (otherwise known as Min-E3 or, if you are one of the unlucky journalists not to be invited this year, “that abomination that used to be E3”).
