TimeGate, the developer behind
F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, has found a home for its new next-gen sci-fi shooter, dubbed
Section 8, at Gamecock. SPOnG has the first trailer below for now.
Here's how Gamecock describes the game:
“On the war-torn planets of tomorrow, mankind’s greatest battle is about to begin. With its frontier colonies devastated by a growing insurrection, Earth dispatches its premier unit of powered-armor infantry to repel the coming onslaught. Known to their peers as Section 8, this elite unit spearheads the near-suicidal missions required to break enemy lines. Shielded by their advanced armor, these soldiers launch directly into the fray from orbital dropships.”
SPOnG thought it had seen mankind's greatest battle last Friday outside a kebab shop in Wakefield. Shows what we know.
“Often times we gather in the Cockpit to discuss the ideal developers we want to work with. TimeGate has always been at the top of the list. I can’t wait to let gamers know more about their upcoming masterpiece,” uttered Harry Miller, President and Head of Development for Gamecock Media Group.
That's right, the Cockpit! Like the Batcave, but not.
SPOnG must admit to being a tad disappointed that
Section 8 isn't a title based on the little-known team of maladjusted DC superheroes or the mid-'90s hardcore band of the same name. SPOnG can tell you, however, that
Section 8 also refers to a discharge from the American military due to being mentally unfit for service. Poor old Yossarian...
Section 8 is due on PC and next-gen consoles in 2009. While you wait, cast your eyes over the trailer and artwork below and see what you think.
