An Xbox 360 version of
World in Conflict will join its PC brethren on retailer shelves this Autumn, Sierra Entertainment has announced.
The 360 version is being ported over from Massive's PC code by Sierra's own Birmingham-based
Swordfish Studios. Sierra tells us that Swordfish will "optimise gameplay for the Xbox 360 controller and implement a new heads-up-display (HUD) that is more functional and appealing for console gamers."
Unsurprisingly, Sierra reckons bringing the game to Xbox is a good call. “
World in Conflict is the natural fit for Xbox 360, as it effectively blurs the lines between strategy, action and first-person shooter, making controlling units and issuing orders quick and easy on the console controller,” said Sierra's senior VP of global marketing, Al Simone. “With the game coming to Xbox 360, next-generation console gamers will be able to enjoy the next-generation of strategy games. Fans of action games and strategy fanatics alike will find that
World in Conflict’s unique gameplay and advanced multiplayer combat will provide a fresh game experience not yet available on consoles.”
Frankly, SPOnG doesn't care what platform the game gets released on, so long as we get to ruthlessly destroy some of the filthy Commie scum for the good of the free world!
While we ponder that, tuck into the first 360
World in Conflict screens below. Once you're done, wander over to SPOnG's
dedicated game page to find out more.
