As the legions of sheep trudge westwards towards the massive, expensive mudbath known as the Glastonbury Festival today, SPOnG receives word from online gaming service Xfire about our favourite kind of festival – one that is free and involves staying at home playing games.
The Xfire Summer Gaming Festival allows the 7.4 Million registered Xfire users to “play with the best, learn from the pros and chat with gaming culture icons in over fifteen events that are scheduled to take place throughout the summer.”
The fun kicks off next week on June 27th when gamers will have the chance to chat live on Xfire with '*aAa* Spank', the rather ridiculously named 2006
PES World Champion, and 'GG30|Droodie', one of the equally-ridiculously-named favourites to take the title away from him next July.
The Xfire Summer Gaming Festival will continue live from July 5th to 8th at the Electronic Sports World Cup in Paris, France, with more events will be added throughout the rest of the summer.
Frédéric Descamps, Senior Director of Business Development & Marketing at Xfire explains, “Our summer events always attract massive participation and have become a fixture on every gamer’s calendar. We have organized a series of exceptional events featuring the best of gaming. We are very excited to offer European gamers the chance to participate in the Xfire Summer Gaming Festival!"
