Following the recent bout of interest after the release into the wild of a Youtube video on new, arty independent Wii game, Pollen Sonata (think Pilot Wings but with pollen, you can see the video below this news) the small, unnamed Belgian studio behind the game has released an official website, with a downloadable concept demo of the game for the PC.
Pollen Sonata is described, in the development teams own words as:
“...Poetic and serene, unfolding like a beautiful piece of music….The game's world view is that everything has its purpose. Our destiny has been sealed. Everything plays a part in forming the bigger picture that is the cycle of life. Even the smallest pollen grain is part of Nature's being and has its purpose. The game is about them. They have dreams that inform them of the role they have to play in the bigger picture to fulfil their destiny.
Gameplay involves flying from flower to flower in a micro world by adjusting a pollen's form in response to the wind conditions. Folding and changing the form lets the pollen navigate in both the air, by floating and gliding, and on the flowers by rolling and jumping….The player controls a small pollen to fly from flower to flower. He or she has to gather other pollens and command them to fly. Whatever form your pollen has taken, affects the form and actions of the other pollens as well.
And if you have not seen the video yet, sit back, watch and relax:
Talk about a bugs life, interesting idea though. Hope it plays well.

Funny to see small unknown studios producing such great innovative ideas, ubi and ea with all their billions can only dream of....puts them to shame.
it's games like these I bought my Wii to play.....they get my purchase.

This looks like a great direction for the Wii, the playstation 2 was home of many artistic games that never made it to the Gamecube. Nintedo being the innovative console needs games like this. Great concept I hope it turns out well

Yeah I agree, looks nice and the kind of thing anyone can understand how to play. How funny is it that so many can't think what to make on Wii? I'll be watching this game like a hawk.
