Nintendo has just popped
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES, 800 Wii Points) and
Mario & Yoshi (NES, 500 Wii Points) on the Wii’s Virtual Console. Thank Nintendo for Fridays!
Apparently the games went up early in some countries (‘territories’ for marketing people out there) because there’s public holidays or something.
Luckily, being British, we get
fewer public holidays than our work-shy continental cousins, so we can be happy in the knowledge that as they loaf about drinking small thimbles of weak beer, eating decent food and chatting in a multitude of languages, we can spend our whole day in hot, crowded offices moaning about the weather.
Back to the games the Rare-developed, classic platformer
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is the 1995 follow-up to
Donkey Kong Country, featuring DK’s miniature mate Diddy and his lady-friend Dixie, with the most impressively useful (and lethal) ponytail we’ve ever seen.
Mario & Yoshi from the NES and, later, Game Boy era is pretty much a no-brainer, must-buy at a mere 500 Wii Points.
Wii Points, you will remember, set you back £15 for 2000 at retail, or work out a bit cheaper if you buy them online.
