Oh God - It's SingStar As MySpace
Everybody is going community, Web 2.0-wild and this apparently even extends to the PS3 version of the old stager, SingStar. Prepare for MySingStar.

Don't get us wrong, Sony isn't daft enough to rename the valuable property, it is however branding the online store that will support the game as My SingStore Online.

The forthcoming release will come with SingStore and My SingStore Online. According to a report in gamesindustry.biz, the game's producer, Pauline Bozek, is quoted as saying, "Our major innovations for the next gen platform are SingStore, which is an online store that allows players to create their own playlist by downloading songs of their choice, and My SingStar Online. This is a community platform for SingStar fans to upload photos and video and audio to share with friends."

SPOnG is also aware that part of this community action will be a gallery in which the highest-rated videos and recordings will be shown off. This assumes that videos and songs will be rated by members.

The game will launch with 350 songs available at approximately 55Mb, due to the included videos.

This certainly sees Sony shaping for serious online battle with its Home online 'community' and the interaction expected from the highly-anticipated LittleBigPlanet already causing Microsoft's Shane Kim to "doubt" that Sony can pull it off.

If they're doing something like this, they might as well make other games that also use these songs (if you're paying for them). Then they should also let you put them on the PSP and stuff.

They could even combine it with the home thing so you can watch your own music channel, and possibly even have the actual music videos in other games.

How about even recording your own version of the song on Singstar, then saving the recording (maybe even with a video) to your PSP!
