In a break in the official corporate vow of silence, Nintendo has announced when it will be releasing the GameCube across all territories.

The console will release in Japan this July, a date that Nintendo is sticking to, despite widespread belief that it will prove impossible.

Next to be graced by Nintendo’s super-handbag will be the Americans, who will be able to get their fingers around the console’s highly impressive controllers in October this year.

Due to language issues, Europe will be last to see the machine. We are afraid to say that you will have to wait until Spring next Year. Spring eh? Doesn’t sound too much like a month does it? In fact it isn’t a month at all it’s a season. This is worrying. Nintendo has given everyone else the luxury of a month to write down on their calendars. We get “Spring.” Nintendo assured us that this is good enough.

“Nintendo GameCube will revolutionize gaming, bringing a whole new dimension to gameplay for anyone who loves great games. The anticipation for the arrival of GameCube is already hotting up, and we are delighted to be able to give, for the first time, an indication of the launch date in Europe.”

So there, think yourselves lucky. Although nothing has been made official, it is expected that Nintendo will reveal the exact dates at the E3 event held in May this year. By then we should manage to discover at least the month of the GameCube’s European release.

Nintendo has also refused to answer any questions regarding the pricing of the machine. It is widely expected that the GameCube will launch with the recommended retail price of £299 and $299 in the States. There have, however, been a number of highly interesting rumors floating around that Nintendo is planning to under-cut Sony and Microsoft, launching the ‘Cube at £100/$100 less.
