XBL: Forza 2 demo, GRAW 2 Maps, Flat Out demo

Xbox Live goes from strength to strength

Posted by Staff
Some serious geek-love going out to Xbox Live from SPOnG this week, following the superb improvements that came along with the ‘spring update’ yesterday.

Today’s Xbox Live news is that a free, must-get Forza 2 demo is due to arrive today. The 691 MB demo features a selection of cars and a single track. It may well already be there, we’ll be checking in the next hour or two to see.

In other XBL news, Tom Clancy fans can also go grab a selection of new GRAW 2 maps. Plus, Empire Interactive has just announced that we should be seeing a FlatOut Ultimate Carnage demo sometime in June. You can check back later this week for SPOnG’s detailed preview on that title.

Forza 2 promises to be something rather special indeed – perhaps the most hardcore driving game ever devised, the attention to detail and the ultra-realistic car physics in this humungous driving game really is second to none. Car and parts manufacturers themselves consider the simulation technology in Forza 2 to be truly cutting edge.

However, should you not be a committed petrolhead with no anal-obsessive boy-racer knowledge of how different tyre rubber compounds affect your performance and the like, Forza 2] is still a game which will offer a deep and satisfying gaming experience.

Alongside that unashamed arcade driving title Sega Rally, it is by far the best serious driving game of 2007.

If you don't believe us, go and play it. Then tell us we’re wrong.

Go on. Go and download the demo now and tell us in the Forum what you think.

Have been playing it for the last couple of hours and must say that it really is good. I dived in head first with all assists turned off and haven't looked back. The 24 included cars is nice, across three classes - TVR Sagaris is a slippery devil and the McLarenF1 is a beast of a car. Driving sensibly will at least see you not spend most of your time in the gravel traps. The graphics verge on car pornography, so get the tissues ready. Oh, the soundtrack isn't too shabby either.
