Bethesda has just sent word that Hollywood’s favourite Irishman, Liam Neeson, will lead the cast providing voice work in its forthcoming
Fallout 3.
Liam’s Irish brogue will be the voice of the player’s father, set to appear “prominently throughout the game.”
“This role was written with Liam in mind, and provides the dramatic tone for the entire game,” said Todd Howard, Executive Producer of
Fallout 3. “Liam is absolutely amazing to work with.”
Let's get this straight - someone at the production meeting said, "Let's design
Fallout 3 with Liam Neeson in mind! In fact, let's have the entire tone of the game reflect Liam Neeson. Brilliant! I've been told that he's an absolute love to work with..."
Call us slightly cynical but SPOnG is shocked to believe that the entire dramatic tone of a game can be based on one - secondary - character which, in turn, was written entirely for one actor, even if he is absolutely amazing to work with... luvvey.
“It’s been a pleasure bringing the father to life and working with the wonderfully talented people at Bethesda on
Fallout 3,” said Neeson (pictured). “I hope the fans of the franchise and the game will be excited by the results.”
SPOnG is willing to place bets that Neeson did not
actually say ‘the franchise’ but that those words were actually typed for him by a trained PR professional.
Whatever,
Fallout 3 is Bethesda’s next effort following the mighty
Oblivion.
Fallout already has a significant, vociferous (not to mention highly critical!) online community of fans eager to see what Bethesda are going to do with ‘their baby’.
SPOnG will keep you posted on any and all news seeping out of Bethesda on
Fallout 3 as and when we hear it
