The president of
Guitar Hero maker Red Octane has gone on record to state that the Wii version of
Guitar Hero III will have all the features of the other versions of
Guitar Hero III as well as “some new Wii-specific features.”
This has of course started off wild speculation as to what exactly such Wii-specific features could be.
While nobody at Activision in the UK could confirm this for us today, SPOnG is pretty sure we’ll be seeing some form of innovative motion control, whereby the Wii Remote is inserted into the
Guitar Hero controller in some way. This would open up the game to lots of new motion-controlled possibilities, beyond merely being able to hold the guitar vertically to sustain a note.
Again, though, we have to state that this is merely rumour and supposition until we get official confirmation from the
Guitar Hero people. Rest assured we will be contacting them daily until they finally give in and tell us the details.
It is also rumoured that the Wii Remote’s built-in speaker could be used in some way – perhaps as some form of sound cue.
Guitar Hero III for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii is currently scheduled for release in the US in Fall of 2007.
A Nintendo DS version of the game is also set to be released early 2008.
More on
Guitar Hero III, and, of course, EA/Harmonix/MTV’s recently announced
Rock Band, as we get it.
