Nintendo: Saying 'Yes' To Everything Can Go Wrong

More English Training available in Japan

Danny Wallace, author of Yes Man and Dave Gorman's mate, might have gotten it wrong. Nintendo of Japan's released an advert showing that sometimes trying to be positive and saying 'yes' to everything can land you with a super-mega-stupid whopper of a burger. Which, conveniently, is a good reason for Japanese DS owners to buy a copy of the just released More English Training.

This new title builds on the success of last year's Eigo ga Nigate na Otona no DS Training (or, for those of us who still subscribe to the 'talk loudly and slowly' school of thought when communicating with foreigners: DS Training for Adults who Struggle with English).

Apparently Nintendo still considers English-speaking DS owners too apathetic to foreigners to warrant a similar game over here. SPOnG, however, still yearns to visit the Tokyo Game Show without use of a translator so will be keeping its fingers crossed.

I just got back from Japan, and it's changed. I haven't been there for a few years. And in the meantime, a few school years of kids who have learned English have hit the streets, and (in what we have reasoned to be the wake of the World Cup) more tourist maps and street signs are in English (well, in Romaji) that there ever used to be.

So now instead of being a totally confusing place to visit, it's now just very confusing. Plus my mobile phone didn't work while I was there. Nor my ATM card.
