Gears of War: The Movie
Hollywoodshire’s local paper, Variety, is reporting that New Line Cinema has won the rights to make a movie version of Microsoft and Epic's Xbox 360, err, epic Gears of War.

According to the trade mag, the film will be written by Stuart Beattie, (who wrote, amongst other stuff, the superb Collateral). The movie will be produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey through their Temple Hill Entertainment company (which, so far has produced…erm… The Nativity Story).

Interestingly, Beattie is also involved in an adaptation to driving game SpyHunter pencilled in for release in 2009.

SPOnG has placed calls with Microsoft and also with Midway this morning to get more details on both movies. In the meantime, let us know who you think should play Gears of Wars’ beefy old Marcus in real life? Bruce Willis perhaps?

Where's my zelda movie bloody hell! Liam Neelson as Ganondorf, Orlando Bloom as Link (he'll do a good job, just think, Bloom is a good man as long he doesn't open his mouth, Link doesn't speak, win situation!) and Scarlett Johansson as Zelda, trow in Angelina Jolie as Midna.
And if Spielberg is too occupied, Tim Burton directing (he could have Johnny Depp do Tingle then).

Gears of war...eeuh...use 50 cent clones as the Gears being shot downed and then ravished as food by the aliens, that's all i'm asking.

Lol, really welcome but also really funny. I agree with you Optimus. Where the hell is that Zelda film, especially after TP went down so well? We all know it would work onscreen well.

Gears would work okay but its indanger of being another alien flick. After 20 odd years in the industry I'm sure Zelda is far more deserving. Perhaps someone at New Line is a game fan, i don't know.
