Nintendo's taking us back to the dark days of the 1980s this week with its Virtual Console offerings.
Ice Climber,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and
Splatterhouse are all on offer.
The Nintendo faithful (or at least those aged 30 or over) might remember
Ice Climber from its 1985 release on the NES. Alternatively, those of you under 30 who are faking retro gaming knowledge because you think it's cool might remember it from the 2004
re-release on the GBA. Either way, you'll know that it involves guiding a wee Eskimo up a mountain armed only with a hammer to smash his way through blocks of ice.
Ice Climber will cost you 500 Wii points (or £3.50)
Next up are those heroes in half shells.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, also originally published for the NES, pits those crazy, pizza-munching ninja reptiles against giant robots and ninjitsu warriors. This comes just two days after the Turtles made their Xbox Live debut. SPOnG's sure that neither Nintendo nor Microsoft noticed that there's a
Turtles film about to be released and a
game to follow. The Turtles' frolickings will set you back 500 Wii points (£3.50).
Last up is
Splatterhouse hailing from the Turbographx. There's been talk about this gore-splattered horror classic
making a return since 2004, and it looks like Namco finally got its arse into gear and did something about it. It features a Jason-like chap with a hockey mask stuck to his face running around fighting things. It'll set you back 600 Wii points (£4.20).
