Given the enormous success of the movie franchise - if there is one massively multiplayer online game (MMO) that could go up against the mighty World of Warcraft then Codemasters' forthcoming The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar (known ‘in the trade’ as LOTRO) could be it.
SPOnG’s Adam Hartley makes like a Hobbit and is off for a first look at the game later today and a chat with the game’s developers.

I played the open stress test a couple of weekends ago and I must say this game is amazing. It's solid like WoW in terms of interface and design, graphically has all the charm of WoW but doesn't look like arse at the same time. The water in this game is a sight to behold. The retail client also has higher resolution textures again which in my book gives it the coveted title of best looking MMO of the lot. *REALLY* looking forward to this one!
