Dev Apologises for ‘Wii is Shit’ Slur
SPOnG informed you yesterday of some rather damning comments from Spore developer Chris Hecker, who claimed Wii was ‘shit’ in a rant session at GDC

Maxis' Chris Hecker has quickly backtracked today, saying that the comments were merely meant to be thought provoking and not taken out of context.

Hecker pleads, "I was trying to be thought provoking and entertaining and fun, and a lot of the stuff went too far over the top on the entertaining and fun side, so that it was no longer thought provoking, just inflammatory. And in the process I hurt a bunch of people I care about. And so, I want to apologise now."

Perhaps Hecker needs to have a few lessons in basic public relations!

Isn't the whole point of that Rant day or whatever they call it, so that developers can finally speak their mind?
If he thinks the Wii is $hite, then he should be able to say so. Free speech and such.

disclaimer: I could be considered a Nintendo 'fanboy'... Though still without a Wii... Get off your lazy a$$es, Nintendo, and start producing more of that gaming console so that stores can finally receive the devices again. (In my neighbourhood most stores haven't even seen a Wii since its release December 8th. They each had 15 devices delivered (maximum!), but nothing ever since.)

Translation: EA heard about my remarks and threatened to fire my ass if I didn't immediately appologise for my personal beliefs. Turns out they (EA) are making an assload off said 's**t' console by releasing said 's**t' games and didn't appreciate my slamming it. Let this be a lesson to any would-be anti-non-revolution supports out there - bite thy tongue or feel the wrath!

Yeah, I believe when something is not up to scratch for us consumers we should be able to tell each other about, and exclaim our disappointments.

I bought a Wii thinking that it was a good choice over the race for graphics and performance and I trusted Nintendo to deliver a game experience. But I am beginning to get tired of seeing my mates XBOX360 running on his HD TV, with Gears of War. The jealousy overcame me, I don't want to play Mario anymore, I couldn't believe how amazing the games moved and felt on XBOX and PS3.

A personal belief is that the Nintendo Wii would have done really well 5-8 years ago, but now it just doesn't cut it. The novelty has worn off BIGTIME and I'm pissed off at spending my money on it, when I could be playing the most amazing games if I had just saved up a little more for an XBOX.
