Despite the fact that Singapore has had to wait until March 7th for its PS3s (which are the same as the US version, with no region-locked games), it looks as if it’s worth the wait.
Why? Get this offer for MySony members: “Sony Singapore has just announced a special pre-order offer for My Sony members of the eagerly-awaited SONY PlayStation 3 (60GB HDD version). The Playstation 3 will be priced at S$963 inclusive of two games - Resistance: Fall of Man and Ridge Racer 7.”
963 Singapore dollars for a 60Gb PS3 with two games – that’s roughly £321. OK, so you’ve got to be a My Sony member, fair enough. So, how much for the base unit to normal, everyday, Singaporean fanboys? S$799 – which translates to £267.
In the USA, you can pick up a PS3 at Best Buy for $599 (plus local sales taxes), which equates to roughly £305.
A Japanese version will cost you Y60,000 (£260).
If you were lying around Coogee Beach in Sydney and decided you needed to go indoors and play, you’d pay AU$999 (£400).
However, if you are resident in Mumbay, India will pay R60,000 – a massive (£694) for your 60Gb version.
