While the
rumours of Capcom’s Okami making its way over to Wii later this year continue to do the rounds this week, its great news to hear that a bunch of the key members of the original development team from the now disbanded
Clover Studios have reformed to open a new development house, called Seeds.
SPOnG is a massive fan of pretty much every single game that Clover created for Capcom – the most recent of course being the sublime, aforementioned
Okami (pictured) – and you can read our review of that beauty
right here.
Designers Shinji Mikami, Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba, the creators of such videogaming classics as
Resident Evil,
Devil May Cry,
Okami and
Viewtiful Joe are heading up Seeds.
According to Seeds' Web site (pictured below), the studio was formed in August of last year and currently employs 51 people, and is currently looking to expand.
"We are a group of creators who have already created colorful products," the site reads.
‘Colorful products’ is something of an understatement! Though perhaps allow for something being ‘lost in translation here.
It continues, "Now, standing on new ground, and even as the soil has changed, our passion to pursue new play hasn't changed. We are challenging ourselves on a global scale to create entertainment products with a new, fresh feeling. We need more seeds…. Would you like to make some "preposterously amazing" games with us?”
SPOnG will bring you more news of exactly what Seeds is up to, what games they are developing and which publishers they are working with as soon as we get it.
