Okami on Wii?

Reports have emerged in darkened corners of the internet that a Wii version of Capcom's truly beautiful and extremely playable PS2-based Okami is in production.

Should the rumour prove true SPOnG would be nothing short of delighted. The brushstroke mechanics of Okami would make it perfect for the Wii remote.

Alas, it seems unlikely to be the case. SPOnG contacted Capcom for comment and was told, "There are no plans for Okami on the Wii."

Now, here at SPOnG we're not the sort to be put off by a straight-out denial, but there's another glaring fact that ought to be considered here. Namely: Clover will be closed as of the end of March.

Many of the studio's employees will be absorbed into other areas of Capcom. Dissolving the studio does not, however, seem like the action of a company planning a Wii version of Okami.
