Halo 3 To Silence 'Poltroons'

Multiplayer will allow silencing of idiots

Posted by Staff
The long awaited Halo 3 will offer the option of shutting up annoying American teenagers who won't stop with the trash-talk.

Frank O'Connor from Bungie elaborates in the studio's weekly update on its website:

'The "A-Hole Button" in Halo 3 lets you exact instant, silent vengeance… you simply press a button (back button, for the moment anyway) and up comes the score list with everyone's tag on it. The right stick lets you highlight the miscreant and you can then instantly mute them for the rest of the game.'

O'Conner doesn't seem too impressed with some of the trash-talkers on Xbox Live. He adds:

'…we can't be parents to some of these poltroons. We're much more concerned with giving you guys the tools you need to silence them.'

Thanks Bungie!

Also included in the updated are some words from the enthused Jen Taylor, the voice behind Cortana:

"There's a lot more drama and a lot less technical jargon this time around. I actually just finished a couple of lines that nearly had me in tears. For an actor, more drama is always good."

is there a limit on how many poltroons you can raise? which poltroons can you be parents to? are bungie breeding and nurturing poltroons? what is a poltroon?

Has one of my personal favourite - and most underused - synonyms: "dastard".

Not sure about 'god's hooks', it's one of them there 'god' words, much like 'zounds' ('god's wounds').

I'm favouring: trenchant and fianchetto, as my words of the week.

I am currently trying to come up with a word that defines a collection of game anti-activists (Vaz, Thompson, Johnson... and cetera).

So far the best I can do is a 'kneejerk' as in:

"...that game was slagged off by a kneejerk of critics."

parasites, is a suitable word for those bastards

fleas rolling in schadenfreude like pigs in swill, sucking cash and publicity out of the blood canals of the industry, numbing the bite with religous codswallop as to carry on with its deplorable siphoning

a 'wake' of journalists perhaps? they do seek to 'bury' the franchises they show their attention to..

Schadenfreude? Rolling in schadenfreude? Bah! You can't roll in schadenfreude...

I can't say I've ever had a bad time at a wake... wakes are dead good (sic). A wake's a celebration really.

And I wasn't talking about journalists... who are all great, clever, trenchant and talented. I was talking about a "heap" of anti-activists.

It doesn't even work as an analogy though, does it? No. Just back away from the whole schadenfreude/fleas idea. Leave it behind.

People as a fleas though, that does work as an analogy.

Hold on, you called me a 'cant'!

Mark my words, if you've got any down-in-the-mouth doom merchants at a wake, a couple of pints of porter, a stiff whiskEy followed by a few rousing choruses of The Old Triangle or Don't Go Down To Monto will sort the buggers out.

Now I think about it, I reckon a new "Wake Wii" bundle from Nintendo would be a brilliant niche filler!

OK, on the quiet, I actually quite like it... but it just grates on my sense of right and wrong.

Now, a couple of pints or porter and a whiskey will short that out...

i always make a fool out of myself when i get drunk by acting like a tosser, so id better avoid attending a wake with you, with your whiskies :D
