Wii Cricket – Fans Petition Nintendo

SPOnG DEMANDS Wii UK Sports

A English cricketer wearing the wrong shirt?
A English cricketer wearing the wrong shirt?
There’s nothing quite like a mass debate about the strange and arcane sport of cricket that splits opinion in the SPOnG office. Tim and Steve will, for example, go all dewy-eyed at the mere mention of Sir Garfield Sober’s six sixes that time in Swansea, while Adam and Andy just don’t understand the rules!

However, we are all agreed on one thing cricket-related this morning. The Wii is clearly crying out for a cricket game. We’ve had enough of Wii Sports now and want some English-flavouring to the next version of the game please Nintendo! (Oh, just one more round of Wii Sports Golf then...)

Our antipodean cousins clearly feel the same way as some bright spark has launched a site petitioning Nintendo to make Wii Cricket, cleverly entitled, WiiWantCricket.com

It’s all so obvious. Why didn’t we think of this first? Check the teaser video to see why right here:

SPOnG wants to take this splendid idea and run with it a little further though. We want, nay, demand Wii UK Sports featuring Wii Remote-enabled versions of all our nation’s finest pastimes including:

Wii Rugby League
Wii Darts
Wii Dominoes
Wii Caber Tossing
Wii Welly Wanging
Wii Cheese Rolling
Wii Grand National
Wii Cribbage
and last, but in no way least, Wii Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Racing.

Come on Nintendo, we expect to see Wii UK Sports in stores for Christmas 2007.
