S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Out in March - New Screens and Info

An immense, sprawling behemoth of a game

It's all about the good old PC today, with THQ’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl finally launching in March.

To celebrate, here’s a bunch of new screens and all the latest info for you to mark the occasion of this much-heralded first-person adventure finally seeing the cold light of day.

The game, developed by Ukrainian outfit, GSC Game World, has been in development for around three hundred years (well, since back in 2002) and the questions many hardcore PC gamers are asking themselves are – ‘Will S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl live up to its massive promise? Or will it fail to meet the very high technical expectations many have for a triple-A PC title in 2007?’

So what’s it all about? In the game you play as the eponymous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in an area known as the Zone surrounding Chernobyl – an environment that has just experienced yet another devastating new radioactive fallout. The year is 2012 and it seems that the Zone is populated by a paramilitary outfit known as Duty, militant bandits, bizarre mutants and, worst of all, a strange and violent sect known as the Monolith.

In effect, you are thrown into the middle of a classic, freaky, sci-fi dystopian nightmare.

It’s an immense, sprawling behemoth of a game. SPOnG will bring you a full preview with our opinion on the title in the coming weeks. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the latest screens and check out our dedicated S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl page for the full lowdown to date.
