Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Priciest Virtual Console Game Yet

Japanese release set

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is set to be the most pricey Virtual Console release to date. It'll set you back a cool 1,200 Wii points, that's £8.40 to SPOnG's British readers.

Don't let the fact the price is out there get you too excited just yet, however. The release has only been confirmed for Japan, where it'll hit in February.

The cost of the game breaks the mould for N64 releases on VC, which normally come in at around the 1000 point (£7) mark.

SPOnG checked in with Nintendo Europe to find out if we can expect a PAL release any time soon. They were only able to confirm a first quarter release for it – so expect it before April 1st.

It had better be sooner rather than later. SPOnG's hoping to use Ocarina of Time to offset its Twilight Princess addiction.

be interesting to see the figures for VC games sales after a year or so. I think Nintendo could have done it a lot better, the prices are too high, and restricting 5-15 year old games based on region is just insane.

Considering I own this on N64, Wind Waker collectors edition, and The Legend Of Zelda collectors edition, I'll pass paying an inflated price to play a game I already own 3 times.

Only kind of classic zelda I want on my wii are wiimakes, imagine wiimake of ocarina using twilight princess controls, or wind waker would be even better.

I agree. Athough VC games are nostalgic, etc, there's nothing special about them being on Wii, i.e. why do people want to re-buy the same games they already played?

Nintendo should make the VC better, e.g. cheaper games/added functionality. It doesn't have to be much, just something new.

If they did remake Mario/Zelda 64 or something, with better graphics/Wii functionality, it could be amazing, like New Mario Bros. was. There's something a bit rubbish in the way that companies capable of realising amazing ideas simply don't (some they do, some they don't). You get a new FIFA or PES every year, whether you like it or not - when there's something people want, though, companies are slacking behind. Twilight Princess was stupid, being delayed for so long, and you can't even get it on the Gamecube, when they promised to release it on there.

They shouldn't necessarily do everything the fans ask for, but I think they should listen to fans more than they do.
