Theme Park in Your Hand – New DS Screens

Rollercoasting right onto DS this spring

Posted by Staff
Theme Park is heading to your DS this coming Spring, and EA has just sent us this latest batch of screens to give us a bit of a taster of how it’s going to look and play.

Theme Park for DS was first announced back in November, and will allow players to “create, manage, and develop their own fun-filled park, packed with amazing rides, enticing shops and engaging sideshows, all via an intuitive Touch Screen interface.”

The game is being developed by EA Japan Studio, with General Manager Stan Chow noting that:

“Theme Park is one of EA’s long standing properties, and we are excited to breathe new life into the series by bringing it to the NDS platform for the first time ever. Taking advantage of the unique controls in the NDS, we are able to create an easy-to-pick-up game that offers the experience of creating and managing your own park to audiences of all age and gender. The game will have the depth to satisfy fans of the series, and also be accessible to lighter and new gamers with its user-friendly controls.”

This sounds good, however it does look a bit like a re-hash of the original - I hope they do improve it.

It's also a bit of a pity this game isn't being developed by Bullfrog. Have they been completely absorbed into EA now?

EDIT: Wikipedia confirms this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullfrog_Productions

That's cool, now where is bloddy Command and Conquer? That is something I'd much rather play on DS.

Sim City is also looking pretty good from the screens I've seen of it, but we still need a proper RTS to play before Heroes of Mana and FFXII Revenant Wings. Do we really need the japanese to show us how to do everything.

I find this still quite amazing that EA aren't looking to sort out C&C on DS. No news, screens etc.

Pull your finger out, EA.
