SPOnG’s just received word from Activision that the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 2 – the one with the juicy white gee-tar controller and the downloadable tunes – is due to drop in both the US and in Europe this coming March.
Budding rock-gods on the 360 version can opt to play rock rhythm, lead, or bass guitar tracks – just as with the recently released PS2 version. Apparently, the main advantages over that version will be the prettier graphics, the downloadable content and the new X-Plorer controller (pictured right), designed specifically for the Xbox 360.
It's almost as tasty as Spinal Tap’s Nigel Tufnell's special guitar that nobody is allowed to touch ("don't even look at it!")… but not quite. Still, it means that Xbox 360 gamers can finally enjoy what is by far the best version of Guitar Hero to date this coming Easter.
Dusty Welch, Head of Publishing, RedOctane, said of the game when it was first unveiled back at X06 last September:
“With its large integrated hard drive, Xbox 360 provides an incredible platform for facilitating downloadable content. We believe there is no better title to feature micro-transactions than a music game like Guitar Hero II, where the content is the basis of your experience. The relationship with the Xbox Live Marketplace creates endless possibilities for exclusive content.”
