The latest Media Create figures from Japan show that flagship Xbox 360 RPG Blue Dragon is certainly doing the business for Microsoft (about time!)
Blue Dragon sold 80,000 units in its first week in Japan – making the title the second fastest-selling 360 game after Dead or Alive 4.
The Mistwalker RPG sits at number 4 in the Japanese chart and Microsoft breathes a huge sigh of relief that the investment and hype has paid off. Meanwhile, Zelda drops down to number 17!
Blue Dragon has also helped to seriously boost 360 console sales in the region, with the latest figures showing that the Xbox 360 sold 35,453 units during a period spanning December 4th until December 10th, the first time the console has outsold the PlayStation 2 in Japan.
However, just to offer some perspective, 360 console sales were still nowhere near sales of the recently released Wii (85,439) and PS3 (50,171).

Its been getting really good review scores, I've only been looking at the score as its not my type of game. But if you love the FF type games on the PS you should love it.

Totally aside from the conversation about BD, but related to the story, it may interest people to know that all the "new gen" consoles had their second best hardware sales week last week. Each of them only had higher sales in their launch weeks. Spooky eh?
Of course, it was only the Wii's second week on sale so that was to be expected! :-)
Furtherly interesting is the fact that last week was the first week that the PS3's hardware sales went up over the previous week. This would seem to indicate that Sony are getting more of their hardware into stores since previously the sales were approaching 30K and last week they topped 50K. This fact may have some bearing on the story SPOnG ran yesterday about Sony being on track for 2M "in channel" before the end of the year.
And another interesting thing to be taken from the Japanese hardware sales is the fact that the Wii's sales plummeted from 350,358 for the previous week to 85,439 last week. It looks like Nintendo may be having stocking issues in Japan as well as Europe.

Or, perchance, Nintendo had a lot of stock built up ahead of launch for their launch, and then continues to make 80k a week of new units. Seeign as it is only liek the second week on sale yes no?

All the BS about bringing a balance to the discussion aside, thats what you're about. You've stated it publicly more than once on these very forums, and I'm not convinced you've ever backed away from this stance, wether publicly or in your heart of hearts. (Becasue the Lord knows we need someone else to bitch about MS and pray for their downfall...almost as bad as we need more "hate Bush" and 9-11 conspiracy websites)
Hate on MS all you want, spin things Sony's way whenever you like, but don't try and cloak it in the dubious virtue of your make-believe FOX News-esque "balance" as you have in the past. And don't act all surprised and offended when people misunderstand your position, since you mispreresent it as a matter of course.
