Wii is Fastest Selling Console in UK Chart History
Word comes from Nintendo this morning telling SPOnG that Wii is the first HOME console in ChartTrack’s history to sell over 100,000 units over the UK launch weekend, having shifted an impressive 105,000 units in the since Wii-E day on Friday.

“Don’t forget the 110,000 DS sold too,” Nintendo’s UK PR manager, Robert Saunders, jubilantly said this morning.

The final European figure should be announced shortly, so SPOnG will bring you an update on that as we get it.

Microsoft previously held the record for launch weekend sales, with 70,000 Xbox 360’s being sold over the launch weekend this time last year.

The demand for Wii is unprecedented, with most of SPOnG’s (non-gaming) family and friends already asking us how and where they can get one (‘for the kids, you understand’).

We will be bringing you a full update on the stock flows into the UK and the quickest and most straightforward way of getting your mitts on a Wii as soon as we get the full picture from Nintendo.

Zelda: The Twilight Princess has shot straight into the All Formats Top 40 at number 5 this week. Right now, it's all we can do to tear ourselves away from it to write these words. If you fancy your chances of winning a Wii, a copy of Zelda AND a copy of Wii Play with an extra Wii Remote then you had better enter our current competition quick sharp.

Good news, I hope the games flow from shelves just as easily, even though all of them aren't great. Hurry up with Trauma Center while the iron is still hot, and hopefully it will receive the attention it deserves.

Perhaps Nintendo won't have any trouble hitting that target.
