Nintendo Cares

How to Wii Safely
God bless Nintendo. The company has just sent out the email you see right here giving users some basic safety tips for playing Wii.

It’s basic stuff – put the wrist strap on, don’t let go of the Wii-mote, don’t play in confined spaces – but there are plenty of idiots in the world who will not heed this advice and then blame Nintendo for their TV’s being smashed, for them putting their windows through or for having their friend's eye out.

The company recommends that you stand at least three feet from your TV when playing Wii and that if you have sweaty mitts that you make sure to dry them off, otherwise you may lose your grip on the Wii-mote.

With two days to go to the UK Wii launch, it’s good to know that Nintendo cares about these idiots!

It's good advice. I nearly put our Wii-mote through the SPOnG office ceiling yesterday. Playing two-players with one remote makes you pass it around - and so you start not bothering to put the strap on - then bad stuff happens.

I can't wait until we get some more remotes, so that we don't have to pass the 'mote.

You pass the Wii Mote? And then forget to put the strap on? That, coupled with the fact that the Wii Mote is covered with the other guys slippery hand sweat, is just asking for trouble! And some soap to wash your hands with, too!

I never said forget.

When you're bowling it takes longer to put the strap on than it does to take your shot.

Who's got time?

Yeah, why should we put straps on!

I would just recommend being careful, and making your friends sign contracts before playing, covering you for damage.
