Interactive PS3 Card Game: The Eye of Judgement

Cards, camera, action! New screens inside

One of the more overlooked, yet more innovative PlayStation 3 titles that Sony wheeled out at E3 this year, was the inventive card game, The Eye of Judgement, which introduces a new way to interact with a games console via the PS3’s next gen camera, a small board-game and a set of fantasy trading cards.

Sony’s just sent through these latest pics of the game in action, which give you a much better idea of the concept.

Each card is encrypted with a “cybercode”, and when you place your card on the table, the card’s character comes to life to battle on screen. The outcome of any battle depends on the particular match of character’s skillsets.

The winner is the first player to capture five of the nine squares on the board. The game comes with thirty cards and also features an online option. SPOnG, however, is sure that the most fun is to be had face-to-face with your opponents as you play the card game over the table and watch your respective characters battle it out on screen.

It’s a simple, yet genius concept, and SPOnG looks forward to trialling it as soon as we get a first look.

In related news, Sony is soon to open it’s PS3 ‘brand space’ in London, a similar idea to Nintendo’s Wii House. It’s what’s called ‘a space’ in arty circles, but what everybody else calls a building. Anyway, it’s going to enable Sony to demonstrate PS3 products in a relaxed and more welcoming atmosphere – it says here.

We’ll also be bringing you more on that as soon as we have it.
