So, what is
Call of Duty 3 like on the Wii, you may be wondering? Put simply, it’s a bit like
Call of Duty 3 on the 360, but just not quite as nice looking.
Having briefly played the game in the Wii House recently, SPOnG’s fears that ‘proper’ games on the Wii might just not be as good an experience as the same games on the Xbox 360 or PS3 were put to rest.
The game features some of the best motion-sensing Wii-mote features we’ve yet experienced, with
Metroid Prime 3 style movement controls and some other neat touches such as using the controller to steer vehicles,
Excite Truck style, using it as a virtual oar to row boats, flicking the Nunchuk to reload, pushing the controller out in front of you for melee attacks, and so on.
In SPOnG’s short playtest, it was these Wii-mote specific functions which really made the game stand out. We can’t wait to give it a proper go when we get the final review version later this month.
