The Xbox 360 Peugeot 206

A small French car, with Xbox branding

Posted by Staff
If you are unlucky enough to drive a Peugeot 206 1.4L, then SPOnG pities you. If however, you are canny enough to drive the far superior GTi model, then you're going to love the ‘numbers-heavy’ Xbox 360 Peugeot 206. A French car branded out of America - entente cordial, or what?

Following on from the PS2-branded Clio, it seems the Microsoft brand is finally becoming cool by association. Something which certainly could not have been said just one year ago (in Europe, at least).

Strangely, the Xbox 360 Peugeot 206 doesn’t feature a playable Xbox 360 console in the back, it merely features Xbox 360-branded seats and a green line along the side. Let us know what you think of the partnership in the forums.

Of course, if you are going to buy a Peugeot, SPOnG would advise you to spend your hard-earned on a pristine reconditioned 205 GTi 1.9 from back in the day – the original (bad) boy racer motor.

We would also advise you NOT to buy one from SPOnG’s very own Stefan ‘would you buy a used car off this man’ Walters, who has a tendency to collect the less reliable examples of this eighties classic. The last one he was kind enough to lend to Adam had the annoying quirk of rapidly accelerating of its own accord when it hit 50mph. (“Wahey, it’s like Herbie!” shouted Adam, careening to certain death on London's delicious north circular).

Oh, they should have done it with the 306 (Xbox 306) at least. If it wasn't the 307.

The 207 is out too, so this is a cynical way of shifting the last few 206s.

Surely this would have been a better promotion for the 107, since the kind of people who are swayed by this kind of transparent marketing crap are more likely to be on a very first car budget, aren't they?

What an oppurtunity missed to stick a nice 360 into the car. Hold all you music on it and play your games. That would have been cool.

That would have been AWESOME.

But it would also have been WORK, totally out of keeping with this cheap cash-in.

Wasn't there an "original xbox" branded Fiat or something once upon a time?

That didn't have a console in it either...

buddy of mine just hardwired an inverter into the back of his Mountaineer...has an 18" lcd with a mount that slips right into the gap betwixt the sunroof and headliner....pretty slick, considering it required almost no modification. Never much saw the point of all those little LCD screens myself...

That whole modding and "carputer" scene is cool. I really want a Mac Mini and an LCD touchscreen in my car... But I'm an un-reformed Maxxer at heart...

Wish I stayed in one country long enough to make it worth owning a car. The hire company would get pissed if I slammed and blacked out their car.

Why don't rental companies hire out pimped out cars? That would be, like... totally cool! Though you can rent a Hummer H2, or a Ford Mustang GT Shelby in the states now. I might try a Hummer when I'm home for the holidays.

Oh I don't have a problem with the aims and ideals of the scene, I just hold out for displays 12" or larger it was the half dozen 7" displays I've seen in some customs that I was expressing my disinterest in...and yeah, I've wanted a touchscreen since forever, at this point I think I'd want a tablet though, I like to read, and e-books on a tablet in portrait sounds schweet.
