Rampant speculation about the potential future of the GTA series on Nintendo Wii has been fired up online over the last 24 hours, seemingly coming from some serious 'reading into' of a fairly innocuous comment yesterday from Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime, who simply told MTV News that: "I'll be spending some time later today with the folks over at Take-Two to see what type of support they can give our console."
Although to be fair, Reggie did fan the flames of the Interweb rumour-mill by also adding, "The fact is, there will be M-rated content on the Wii console...EA has already announced that they're bringing The Godfather to our console. And we want every single best-selling game to be available on Wii. Whatever that content is."
However, it would be weird to hear that Fils-Aime was not in talks with Take-Two, as it is common knowledge that Nintendo is aggressively pursuing third parties to provide a wide variety of family and adult content for Wii.
SPOnG will be heading out to Rockstar in London come the end of this paragraph, so we will be sure to quiz them a little more about these and the many other randomly unsubstantiated Internet rumours regarding the future of the Grand Theft Auto series. We also heard, from someone in our local hairdressers, that the company might be giving away free 'pretend GTA4 tattoos', just like Microsoft's Mr Moore was sporting at E3, with the 360 version of that game. So that must also be true.
