UPDATE - English language version is now live at
www.wii.com/en_US/. Go!
Following the official Wii news emanating from the Land of the Rising Sun earlier today, along with the leaked news coming from national newspapers in the States (all to be confirmed and detailed by our man in New York later this afternoon) Nintendo has just launched the official
Wii.com website, with a number of must-see videos detailing some of the key functionality and features of the console.
The site is currently only in Japanese, but you can still pretty much get the gist watching the videos, and if you don't fancy attempting to navigate the Japanese version of the site, we've handily provided the direct YouTube links for you below. We expect that the English language versions of the site will be up shortly, following the US and European press launches later today and tomorrow.
The six Wii 'channels' annouced so far are as follows:
1.
The "Nigaoe Channel" ("Caricature Channel") where you can create Wii-Mii likenesses of yourself and your mates and family. SPOnG is looking forward to creating some extreme caricatures of our gaming partners with this.
2.
The "News Channel" which is pretty much self-explanatory.3.
The "Weather Channel" with national and international forecasts.4.
The Wii's main menu. And, with videos still to come on the last two, there is also the 'Photo Channel' and the Opera-powered 'Internet Channel'.
We'll be sure to bring you the vids on both of those the minute they are released.
Let us know your thoughts, as ever, below.
