A Wii For Europe - Under £150 in November
Some of our more attentive readers will already know that Nintendo has something to tell us next week, something both the US and European arms are keeping schtum about.

We think we know what it may all be about, and so does MCV.

The industry weekly today stakes its claims that Wii will hit Euro stores on the last Friday of November - one whole month before Christmas Eve. Best of all, the paper believes it will be available at the impulse-friendly price of £149.

The respected news organ goes on to state that senior industry sources claim availability will not be an issue for UK consumers. Take that Sony!

If that £150 price point is true then its very good value for money and hopefully they officially give the full specs on the machine also.

About bang on my estimate. £130-150. I can deal with that no probs. Guess I'll have to start buying xmas presents early. I'll need more games for my Wii.

I just hope I can just walk into a shop and buy one, instead of all this preorder bundle biz.

Come on Nintendo, make me happier by pricing those Wii games at £30-35.

I've heard other rumours. The biggest, though the date mentioned is likely truly wrong - gave these details for the package:

1 Wii base unit, inc connector cables etc
1 "Wiimote controller" and analogue add-on
1 Re-branded "original" (ie, Gamecube) controller
1 copy of Wii Sports
1 512mb SD card for games saves - with Duck Hunt remake on!

It also alleged a price of $175, which translates at about £150 for here. I'd love that to be true, as 2 games off the bat sounds great.

Nintendo UK boss refutes reports of Wii price point and date
Ellie Gibson 11:57 08/09/2006

"They're definitely not right," says Nintendo UK boss

Nintendo UK boss David Yarnton has told GamesIndustry.biz that reports the Wii will retail for GBP 149 and will be in shops shortly before November 24 are "definitely not right".

The claims, which appeared in an article by trade publication MCV, are "only speculation, and definitely not fact," according to Yarnton.

"They're not far off, but they're definitely not right," he told GI.biz.

As previously announced, Nintendo is holding a Wii press event in London next Friday, where it is set to reveal the official price point and launch date for the console.

"We will be announcing more details then," Yarnton confirmed.

I cant see it being cheaper, and any more than that will be pushing into core 360 territory?

Or maybe MCV are bang on target and Nintendo just don't want their cover blown before they announce it themselves.

You know, I really wouldn't put it past them. :P
I can deal with £150. Now I just gotta think about the games and periph's I'm gonna get for launch. Zelda, MP and Monkey Ball are definites...

I'll be in the USA before Christmas - so I'll try and pick up a PS3 - though it's gonna be in short supply. But I'm definitely going to get a Wii.
