The move brings hope to European consumers that the existing launch schedule will remain as July, which would improve Nintendo’s reputation as a delay-ridden company.
There are many rumours that the handheld console has been ready for a long time and that it has been kept under wraps due to the continuing success of the Game Boy Color, and even the original Game Boy, which has enjoyed considerable success with the Pokemon titles. Nintendo is now preparing to take the Game Boy Advance to market in Japan on March 21st. The handheld will be backwards compatible with existing Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, ensuring a huge library is available to consumers at launch. Packaging for the hardware and a number of games has already been unveiled.
If all release dates stand, with only five months betweend Japanese and European launches, this would be one of the fastest global hardware roll-outs the industry has ever witnessed.
