With Xbox 360 comfortably sitting on shop shelves, PS3 and Wii are left duking it out in the ether in a rumour war of PR and pontification. Yesterday we reported the
Jeux France claim that the next graphical Wii presentation will surpass anything we've seen so far. Today the mill grinds on, with the news that a Nintendo media event will apparently take place in London on September 15.
You may know that a similar event is slated for September 14 in America. Is there finally some sort of territorial equality that will see all corners of games-playing Earth tantalised evenly? And what can we expect at these putative press conferences? A Megaton demo of the kind alluded to yesterday?
We think it's unlikely that the Wii will pull eye-candy rabbits out of its plumber's hat. There's nothing wrong with the crisp graphics we've seen so far. Sneering detractors dub Wii the GameCube 1.5, but if the Resident Evil titles were anything to go by, then the little purple lunchbox barely fulfilled its potential anyway. Perhaps more likely (and probably more exciting) would be an announcement of release date and price point. Or maybe just more teasingly, the release of a different colour DS Lite. We'll have to wait and see, so watch this space.
