The new domestic football season is almost upon us and whilst all the team at SPOnG eagerly await the latest news on the next iteration of Konami’s incredible Pro Evolution Soccer series, we are also contractually obliged to bring you the news on that other football game.
Yes, it’s FIFA again, the game that’s nowhere near as good as Pro Evo (this is scientific fact, we have carried out surveys) yet sells well amongst casual gamers and football fans due to EA’s blanket marketing coverage and canny licensing.
And whilst we steadfastly refuse to advise anybody to buy FIFA, the reality is that at least one or more of our friends and/or family will be tricked by clever marketing/licensing into buying this game at some point in the next few months, and - even worse - they will challenge us to a game.
As our Andrew so perceptively put it, when the FIFA news came up our pipe earlier: “This is akin to playing Sticky Belly Cock Flap with your nephews while your mum and sisters record it for posterity.”
Anyways, here are some pictures of the new FIFA 07: it’s got better AI, better ball spin and control, a better manager mode and (least boringly) better connectivity between the PSP and PS2 versions.
It’s out on PS2, Xbox and PSP next month. Don’t bother buying it, as the new Pro Evo will be out shortly after.
