SPOnG paid a visit to the good people of Ubisoft yesterday, who kindly gave us the latest update on their robust line-up for the fourth quarter of 2006 – with AAA-titles including Jap 360 RPG Enchanted Arms (Sep); Splinter Cell: Double Agent; Dark Messiah (both out Oct); Rainbow 6: Vegas; Rayman: Raving Rabbids and Red Steel (all out November) plus next gen beauties Assassin’s Creed and Haze both pencilled in for March 2007.

Whilst we were up there, they also mentioned a new signing called Import Tuner Challenge for the 360 – a fully customisable, underground street racing game being developed by Genki of Japan and due for European release later this autumn.

The accompanying press release that just dropped into our inbox describes it thus: “Import Tuner Challenge is an authentic and extremely customisable street-racing game that challenges racers to immerse themselves in Tokyo’s underground to take on the fastest street-racing teams. Players can modify and race licensed import sports cars using real tuner parts and tuning techniques. More than five million combinations are possible in tailoring a car’s interior, exterior and engine.”

The game features real Tokyo highways and regions, all the hottest licensed import sports cars and concept vehicles, and the most prized import tuner part manufacturers, such as authentic aero kits from Mazdaspeed, C-West and Veilside, to racing seats from Recaro and Bride.

The single player game will feature 400 unique opponents, plus the game will be fully Xbox Live compatible, as we have come to expect as standard now for 360 releases.

Looks alright, but does it handle like a dog on wheels? Is speed sacraficed for focus on drifting?

Need to get those japs hooked on a dose of Burnout Revenge for a lesson in speed.
