News just in from Eidos this morning informs us that the team behind the popular Hitman series, the kooky Scandinavians at IO Interactive, are working on a new title called Kane and Lynch: Dead Men.
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men is a story-driven, fully co-operative third person action shooter, and is scheduled for a PC and 360 release sometime next year. Phew, that’s a mouthful of a genre, eh?!
The press release tells us more details about the two lead characters in the game: “A dark and gritty tale of two men bound by circumstance as they wait on death row for their final sentence. One is a flawed mercenary, the other a medicated psychopath. The two are forced to embark on a violent and chaotic journey, hating each other every step of the way.”
Ah, the old story about the love-hate relationship between the flawed mercenary and the heavily medicated psychopath, SPOnG remembers it fondly from our childhoods. Er, hang on, no, that was Hansel and Gretel. What are they mixing their vodka with over at IO Interactive, we wonder?
And now for the requisite corporo-quote about the game, from some besuited marketeer who probably can’t actually remember the last time they actually played a game. Take it away, Larry Sparks, Global Head of Brand Management at Eidos: “No gamer will have experienced anything like this before, both graphically and in terms of gameplay. Sounds like the Army of Two(??) game that EA are working on that has two protagonists and can be played co-op.
I like co-ops games so I'll be keeping on eye on both of these.

Hopefully it'll be a spiritual sequel to Freedom Fighters.
I can't believe how into that game I got, or how tightly the squad commands were implemented.

Sounds interesting. I really enjoyed Freedom Fighters a lot and I'm eagerly looking forward to the sequel.
If I do get this one it'll be for the 360.
