New Nintendo DS Lite Colour Batch Expected Soon

Just a quick heads-up that Nintendo is poised to announce several new colours in the DS Lite range in the next week or so, opening the floodgates to those potential consumers looking for something less generic than standard white, black or blue.

We have it on first-hand authority that a pink Lite will be revealed soon, followed by five new colour versions of Lite, underlining the ugly duckling's emergence as the surprise swan of the portable games market. Details are scant at time of going to press, though it is expected (read: assured) that in the next couple of months, a slew of special edition Lites - some tied to specific games, some associated with Nintendo franchises - will become available.

Although most of the new Lites will be offered only in Japan, a steady trickle will make it to the US and Europe, as was the case with the original DS and its Game Boy ancestors. We'll bring you concrete details as soon as we hear from Nintendo.
