Ubisoft’s splendid-looking soon-come Splinter Cell title had dropped off our radar somewhat, since it had slipped back in the spring.
Back then, all those many months ago, when the weather was reliably cold and the nation was not in the grip of some mass-footballing ‘we can still win it’ hallucination, SPOnG was getting pretty fired up about the idea of playing Splinter Cell: Double Agent.
Just look at these latest screens we've received today and you will understand why. However, we were denied the game earlier this year, due to some of the bigwigs at Ubisoft deciding that there weren’t enough 360 gamers at that point in time, or something along those lines. Which sounds, we have to say, a fairly reasonable and logical explanation for not releasing a triple-A 360-compatible title until September.
Well now, its back on. The 360 version of the game’s release is - we are reliably informed - definitely down for September 28, with the PS3 version still to be confirmed. Which means that, what with Lego Star Wars II down for a September 12 release, the early autumn is shaping up to be the start of some pretty special videogaming action.
There’s also something scheduled to happen in November to do with some new Sony console or other, so that’s another reason to look forward to it getting cold and dark again.
In the meantime, for more info and screens on
