The Internet has been awash with murmurs that Nintendo's Wii will receive all kinds of magical additions when it ships later this year, largely sparked by Nintendo's reluctance to explain exactly what the little flap is on the front of the soon-come console.
The possibilities of cameras, microphones and laser projectors have all been tossed back and forth, with many a Nintendo fansite frothing itself into a lather at the prospect of this shared work of collective fantasy coming to fruition.
Well, if you were expecting an out-of-box camera, or anything else for that matter, you're in for a disappointing read. In an interview with US magazine Game Informer, Reggie Fils-Aime outlined what will happen when punters flip their Wii flaps.
"That is where an SD card goes. That’s storable media. And on top, are the attachments for the GameCube controllers," he explained. Fils-Aime continued, "...[SD cards] will be one of the memory mediums, and it’s the only one that we’ve announced," an interesting hint that perhaps an after-market mass storage unit might well be on the cards, a tantalising prospect indeed.
