New Soul Calibur Confirmed

Elitist button-basher revival claims no doubt follow

Just a quickie for you, as we learn that a brand new Soul Caliber game is in development at Namco Bandai.

Chief Producer Daisuke Uchiyama, head of software R&D at the recently merged outfit outlined in a recent interview that the team is at work on another game in the series, following the slow-burning success of the third outing in the hack 'n' slash portfolio.

As to where the game will end up is anyone's guess, though a trip into the arcades seems somewhat certain. SC2 is still a well-stocked, well-player coin-op and Tekken 6 is heading straight to home console. Of course, a follow-up next-gen outing is all but definite.

We'll keep you informed.

Hopefully it will be on all formats like Soul Calibur 2, I feel it was pretty unwise of Sony and Namco to make Soul Calibur 3 a PS2 exclusive, expecially when considering Soul Calibur 2 was on all formats.

Expecially since, from what I've read, the gamecube version of Soul Calibur 2 sold more than the ps2 or xbox versions. :P

I doubt it will be on Nintendo this time - if it is, though, I would be interested to see a different Nintendo character to Link
