Check out these brand new screens Eidos sent us from its forthcoming epic Just Cause, in which you play a field operative and specialist in regime change, backed by a top US secret government agency who will overthrow the corrupt government of San Esperito.
SPOnG suspects that this so-called ‘corruption’ amidst the San Esperito government is mere US-media led propaganda. What? It’s only a game and it’s not real? Oh…ignore that last comment, then.
Back to the fictional story behind the game, this rogue, made-up state is is suspected of stockpiling Weapons of Mass Destruction (hang on, are we sure this is not real? – Ed). You are charged with the mission of negating this threat to world peace, which you can do in a numer of ways.
You can play the island’s hot-headed factions against one another, you might fancy inciting a rebellion among the masses, or you might want to build strategic alliances with rebel forces and drug cartels. Whatever takes your fancy, really.
The game world which consists of over 250,000 acres of mountains, jungles, beaches, cities and villages, and can be explored by land, sea and air with over a hundred different vehicles to choose from. Just Cause really does sound like it’s shaping up to be a huge, freeform gaming experience.
SPOnG especially likes the sound of the ‘over-the-top stunts’ in which your player gets to jump from vehicle-to-vehicle, parasail, skydive and base-jump.
Check out the game’s website here. The game’s pencilled in for an autumn release on PC, PS2, Xbox and 360. We’ll keep you posted on more Just Cause news as we get it.
