DS Lite Street Date Busted

The DS Lite is the best thing ever invented, of this there is no doubt. However, even we didn't realise its awesome true power, with the iPod-styled games machine now able to take over the minds of certain electronic store managers and force them to release it from its cardboard prison some ten days early.

Indeed, scattered evidence shows both Target and Wal-Mart, major carriers of consumer technology in the US, did put the DS Lite on sale yesterday in some stores, with locations in Ohio, Florida Illinois and New York amongst others knocking out the eagerly awaited update to gamers employing a mixture of luck and good fortune to upgrade their gaming experience.

However, there is also the problem of gamers calling stores to check on availability, being told they are in stock only to be confronted with nothing upon arrival, as blighted this SPOnG writer today. Both Wal-Mart and Target confirmed that DS Lite was on sale in Silverdale, WA, and both were mistaken with the stores carrying only the original DS. According to reports cropping up online, this problem has reached epidemic proportions across the US.

Of course, this problem pails into meaninglessness when compared with the savage digestive bug, causing Americans to empty their bowels into their pants, currently doing the rounds. It was ironic as we returned, empty handed, from Target how, when we were throwing our soiled underwear into the bin in the gas station, that we had no portable entertainment to distract us as we sat down to eliminate the chance of problematic aftershocks.

For reference, the DS Lite hits the US on 11th June and Europe on June 23rd.
