As you can see, Epic's Gears of War tops the game table with a whopping five niminations, and there's good news for Nintendo too, as the Wii racks up an impressive 10, one more than the PlayStation 3. The star does look to be the Xbox 360 however, which sees nominations in 21 categories.

Whatever the results, you should be glad the monopoly-focused, shelf-stuffing Future Publishing and its various drones aren't running the show. Have a read of this to see perhaps the most embarassing example ever of cash-grabbing idiocy blighting the games industry.

Yeah but Assassin's Creed is nominated 4 times and isn't eligible for online multiplayer, which most of the ZOMG comments from the online gaming press for Gears of War seem to be based on. No biggie, both look fantastic.

I take it no one really cares about these awards. Given that anyone who follows gaming closely has already seen much of the E3 coverage and made their minds up about what they want, gaming awards for conventions are nothing more then a celebrating backslap for the industry and something that marketing can spurge all over their advertising (Buy SPORE! Best game of E3 2006, 2007, 2008...)

Plus its been two weeks, old news, bring me the shiny new things, I'm bored already - ah well off to the sugar jar for a quick pick me up.
