Codemasters Squeezes Out a Turd

No. It’s an actual game, called The Turds.

Codemasters Squeezes Out a Turd
Ho ho ho! Those quirky fellows at Codemasters sure had us all in stitches laughing at their new, hilariously named ‘casual’ game, The Turds.

In fact, they didn’t at all. SPOnG merely thought, 'why are they doing this?' Look at the game yourself, if you must, by clicking on www.funsta.com/turds. It’s free, and that seems to be the only justification for doing this. Catching AIDS and dying an horrific death is also free. We wouldn't advise that either.

It has to be said that SPOnG tries its hardest to support everything Codies does, which up to now has been quite an easy and straightforward job, as most of what it does involves developing and publishing high quality videogames (TOCA, Micro Machines, Colin McRae, Sensible Soccer and so on and so forth).

But, we have to say, with The Turds, they really are making our ‘Try to support Codies as much as possible’ policy quite untenable.

From the press release:

“It’s time to cut the crap and see what life is like beyond the toilet bowl as Codemasters announces the signing of the cult character brand The Turds for its casual gaming portfolio.

In an exclusive deal with Pacemaker UK, the characters’ creators, The Turds will star in a series of free-to-play web games developed by Pilot Interactive. The games will feature on a dedicated Turds gaming site, accessible via Funsta.com, Codemasters’ international casual gaming online portal, and a network of partner gaming sites.

Donkey Pong And The Adventures Of Rimdiana Jones, is now live should you either be thirteen or have a brain which has not yet developed beyond that age. The Bogfather, Freddy Pooger, The Turdinator, Wayne Pooney, and characters from history, including Shat the Ripper, Brave Fart, and, of course, Adolf Sh*tler are all soon to follow. Free.

Some bloke who is the head of Codemasters' new Casual Gaming division, whose name we just deleted in exasperation, said: “We were looking for the next big thing to come along for the web gaming initiative and, after a good sit down, eventually The Turds just came out. The Turds is an ever-growing phenomenon that has a massive cult status and we’re thrilled to be able to take them online with the web games.”

SPOnG’s new policy is to pretend that Codemasters Casual Gaming does not exist and has nothing to do with Codemasters, that unparalleled doyen of Britsoft quality videogame development.
